It’s Future Soldier of the Week, Zahraa Frelund. Read her FSC Army Story: “I am a future 12B, Combat Engineer. I joined the US Army because in 2009, as an Iraqi citizen, I walked to victory base in Baghdad barefoot and hopeless. A Captain in the US Army bought me a pair of shoes and food.
Because of the Army, I am free, no one to beat me daily and no one that wants to kill me because I am a woman who ran away from her home to have freedom. The Army saved my life and gave me hope. I am able to go to school and get my education now. I am forever grateful. Now I want to repay the United States for the opportunity they have me.”
If you would like the chance to be featured in front of our large audience on Future Soldier Friday, submit an appropriate photo and your story on why you joined the Army to our inbox and we will follow up with you.
